Importance of a
library
Libraries
are important in design schools as they offer students the opportunity to
research designers and draw inspiration for their current projects. Libraries
hold many books and other forms of information on designers and design ideas
that students can use as precedents for their current projects that they’re
working on; this allows students a starting point to draw inspiration and ideas
from and get straight into developing their project.
Design
school offer’s a lot of art history papers which require research and
appropriate sources, libraries offer services that allow students to search up
their current topic and find books, articles, and journals that are relevant to
their topic in order to find reliable sources of information that will help
them write papers relative to design.
Libraries
offer a quiet environment suitable for reading, drawing or other forms of
studying; they also offer a study room for students to gather and discuss ideas
or perhaps tutor each other. Many librarians are qualified to teach students
about literacy related topics such as how to use APA style appropriately.
Another
feature of libraries is they often offer audio visual material such as movies,
games and audio tapes. Movies and especially games can be a great way to open
up a student’s creativity and inspire their artistic side to help them craft
their idea into reality. A lot of design libraries have previous students’ work
on display as examples of what can be achieved and is also another tool for inspiration.
Libraries
are important in design schools because they give students the opportunity to
research into design and find inspiration through history of designers, audio
visual material and previous students’ works of art. Libraries also offer a quiet
place to study by oneself or with a group in the study room.
